Support

This documentation is the primary source of finPack user guidance.

If finPack is not working as expected, use the resources below to identify the problem before requesting additional support.

Start with the documentation

Errors

See Errors when a finPack worksheet function returns an Excel error such as:

#N/A
#NAME?
#BUSY!

The page explains common causes and the information to check.

Troubleshooting

See Troubleshooting for problems involving:

  • The BPOpti Ribbon.
  • The finPack task pane.
  • Loading CPI data.
  • Retrieving CPI values.
  • Calculating CPI Average Change.
  • Inserting CPI data into Excel.
  • finPack worksheet functions.
  • Internet and service connectivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

See Frequently Asked Questions for quick answers about:

  • CPI Increase versus CPI Average Change.
  • Estimated CPI observations.
  • Percentage formatting.
  • CPI data sources.
  • Worksheet functions.
  • Internet requirements.

Use Diagnostics

The finPack task pane includes a Diagnostics section.

Use Diagnostics when finPack cannot retrieve CPI information or when you suspect a connectivity problem.

A successful diagnostic result confirms that the task pane can contact the BPOpti service.

Information to collect

If the problem continues, collect the following information:

  • The finPack feature or worksheet function being used.
  • The selected country.
  • The selected CPI series.
  • The year and month, if applicable.
  • The period length, if using CPI Average Change.
  • The exact Excel error or finPack status message.
  • Whether Diagnostics succeeds.
  • Whether the computer has a working internet connection.

For worksheet-function problems, also record the formula that produced the error.

For example:

=FINPACK.CPI("ca","all-items",2026,9)

This information helps distinguish between an input problem, unavailable CPI data, and a connectivity or service problem.

CPI data questions

For questions about the official CPI data, methodology, or provider publications, consult the applicable statistical provider.

Canada

Statistics Canada Consumer Price Index Portal

United States

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index

finPack provides tools for working with supported CPI information in Excel, but the statistical providers remain the authoritative source for their published CPI data and methodology.

BPOpti support

A public BPOpti support channel will be documented here before the public release of finPack.

Support information may include:

  • Product-support contact information.
  • Issue-reporting procedures.
  • Product updates.
  • Installation assistance.
  • Release information.
note

finPack is currently under development. Public support contact information has not yet been published.

BPOpti website

The primary BPOpti website is planned for:

https://bpopti.ca

The website is currently being prepared and will provide product and support information when available.
