Requirements

finPack is an Office Add-in for Microsoft Excel. Before using finPack, make sure your Excel environment and internet connection meet the requirements below.

Microsoft Excel​

The initial finPack release is designed and tested for Microsoft Excel on Windows.

A current Microsoft 365 version of Excel is recommended.

finPack uses modern Office Add-in features, including:

  • An Excel task pane.
  • Ribbon commands.
  • Custom Excel worksheet functions.
  • Integration with external BPOpti data services.

Support for additional Excel platforms may be added after compatibility testing is completed.

Microsoft supports Office Add-ins across multiple Excel platforms, but individual features and Office API capabilities can vary by platform and Excel version. finPack documentation therefore distinguishes between Microsoft platform availability and environments specifically tested with finPack.

Internet connection​

An internet connection is required when using finPack features that retrieve CPI information.

finPack connects to BPOpti services to retrieve CPI data and perform supported CPI calculations.

An internet connection is also required to open external resources from the BPOpti Ribbon, including links to statistical data providers and BPOpti resources.

Excel custom functions​

finPack provides the following Excel worksheet functions:

=FINPACK.CPI(country, series, year, month)
=FINPACK.CPIINCREASE(country, series, year, month)
=FINPACK.CPIAVGCHANGE(country, series, months, year, month)

These functions use finPack services to retrieve or calculate CPI results and therefore require access to the BPOpti service.
